16 years ago today, I attended this my first show.
16 years ago today, I attended this my first show. Which upstate camp were you working at PurpleWhale? My first show too, also working as a counselor at an upstate New York summer camp, 17 years old, with my Sunday day off crew. Hmm... I believe I was trying to avoid my upper village boys who were also at the show as part of a camp-sponsored trip to see a concert at SPAC (I don't think the camp directors had heard of phish at the time). Also sitting on the lawn, center fishman-side.

We were all on the same page here and I believe the Purple Haze teases reflected that.

Pretty solid Stash that sustains a good deal of dissonance and involves a greater deviation from the typical jam than does the 7/8/94 Great Woods version. Not as much grand boom to this one, but it's nice to hear an August '93-esque approach (reminiscent of 8/26/93). The MFMF outro is a goofy little section and contrasts well with the straightforward but ripping Julius that follows.

The show was fantastic. I felt like the mayor. I was still totally high off Gamehendge 2 nights before and I felt like the band could do no wrong. honestly i felt like that for a few more years but overexposure eventually killed that buzz. Anyway I never had an opinion of My Friend but I remember falling in love with that tune at this show. Mike's>Low Rider>Mikes was fantastic and seemed to flow perfectly together. Yamar was also killer as always. Perfect summer song. THe Dude came out for Crimes of the MInd. At this point I thought he came out at most of their Albany area shows as he was at a show I saw a few years before...
