All phans have different ways of appreciating Phish. Generally, I try to avoid the theory behind the jams. I spend my days looking at samples of steel through a microscope, analyzing the alloys and their phases. I also assess risk, and implement procedure to eliminate said risk. As you can imagine at the end of the day, all I want to do is put on 8.7 Chalk Dust, 8.8 Halley's -> Light > Twist, or 8.9 Tweezer and let the beauty wash over me.

All that said, I am beyond blown away by the level of dedication and analysis the author put into this essay.
