pnazzaro Atlantic City is 48 miles from Cape May (which is basically a peninsula hanging off the end of the state) per Mapquest by car. The site does estimate an hour's drive; but that's NJ traffic for you. As the crow flies, it's only 40 miles South.

By contrast, Sandy Hook (the beginning of the shore) is 90 miles and 1 hour, 47 minutes North of Atlantic City. Therefore, AC is in the final 1/3rd of the New Jersey shoreline. And places it in the tail end of the New Jersey Shore (this doesn't even count the extra 70+ of NJ North of Sandy Hook).

Wait, Atlantic City is not the "tail end" of the Jersey shore, not even close in fact. Cape may is over an hour away and there are a dozen towns in between.
