The use of 'mute' instead of 'moot' actually makes more sense in this context. Moot implies that something is disputable, but Miguel indicated that it was indisputable. You could, therefore, press mute on any dispute of the 8/24/93 Soundcheck Jam.

I'm sure he was using it to mean "of little or no practical value or meaning; purely academic", as he pointed out that despite having downloaded the show last night, @westbrook got it so quickly today that it wouldn't have even mattered had he known it right away. But something tells me you already know this...
