A moment of pure joy from one of the greatest shows the band has ever played (sorry, not backing down on that one); just unbridled charming funkiness, aided by Page giving his electric piano a good workout. Bonus points for Trey hilariously yanking the band into Hold Your Head Up - seek out the webcast for the moment where the camera catches Fish mid-segue with a "welp, guess I'd better figure out how to wriggle my way out of this one" look on his face. And boy, did he ever!

It is really this 16 minute stretch - not the super (Type I) BOTT, not even the extraordinary, minutely detailed Twist that precedes this jam - that makes Fukuoka one of Phish's greatest shows. Everything about this jam is about pure patience, moving from buzzing ambiance to mellow rock to that astonishing stretch when Walk Away emerges from the midst of things just as easy as you please. Truly gorgeous music, and one of the All Time Great Segues.

A "Jam" doesn't always have to be lengthy to be great. This improvisation could arguably be the intro to Twist, or an improvisational coda to Bathtub Gin, but even by itself, the performance is cohesive and highly representative of the Japan 2000 tour.

"A theme SIMILAR to The Lizards"? It IS Lizards! They play the entire final section of Lizards in a cool, twisted, slowed down, funkified manner. They even play the closing measures! It's as much the closing section of Lizards as the whole 6/25/97 McGrupp is McGrupp.
