As a 3.0 noob I witnessed my first complete Mike's Groove at the Outside Lands Festiva;l I was excited to get another Hydrogen. It came in very unique fashion at MSG on 12/29/11.. Out of Mike's Trey surprised all laying down the beginning of Chalkdust. In the midst of an intense Chalkdust Jam Trey plays the opening licks of Hydrogen but at full speed, with Fishman's double time drum beat. It, for a moment sounds like a "Jessica" (Allman Brothers) tease, but then, all of the sudden it is Hydrogen, clear as day. Trey plays it with his soul. Some hear it as rough as it was clearly orchestrated by Trey without any other band members on board. but, in the moment, I think it worked. FUN SHOW!
