Harpua

demented This was my second Harpua and a rarity due to it being predictable. I was thinking it could be a Hendrix tune - which we got- or a Quadrophenia tune such as Sea and Sand - but we got another story of Jimmy and his cat and their nemesis Harpua - I do prefer the Harpua from Starlake with "I fooled around and fell in love" the silly Physics jokes were cool and nerdy. Not as good as the Olive Loaf Harpua but great fun

n00b100 One of my favorite non-jam-related moments of the Baker's Dozen is the guys overlaughing at Page's first joke like Sammy Davis Jr. cracking up at a joke Frank Sinatra would tell onstage during a Rat Pack concert.

n00b100 The 7th Harpua played since 1997 (the last year with multiple versions of Harpua), and one of the best "whole Harpua deals" from any era when you take it all in from a musical, antic-laden, fun-ness, and sheer emotion (cf. the speech Trey gives before United We Stand). But sure, complain some more about how the Once in a Lifetime was played.

n00b100 Can't blame 'em for trying. Hey, anything that gets Mike to say more than 3 words onstage can't be TOO bad, right?

n00b100 It's such a Phish thing that Harpua was the framing device for the infamous DSOTM performance - it makes sense, of course, but it also helps bring the album into Phish's universe the way simply throwing it out there would not have done. I don't quite love 11/2/98 the way many others do (I am quite certain I'd love it more if it'd been Wish You Were Here), but there's no arguing that it's one of the band's great accomplishments.

n00b100 I'd have thought the "evil sound of Hell" would have been something off of Be Here Now, myself, but this isn't too far off.

Real_out_casty Probably the best Harpua I've seen. I think they felt they wanted to give more. The place was rockin' after Highway to Hell. Jimmy goin' to see Bootsy at the club. Yeah.
