Alright. Personally, after the first show incinerated the amphitheatre, I expected a cooldown show for night two. This was no cooldown. Note that First Tube opened the first night, and they don’t usually open with a First Tube, and tonight, they did something similar. Bouncing was quite possibly the most puzzling opener I’ve ever seen, but I knew that no cooling down was happening. The Chalk Dust was a bit extended, venturing off into a bit of spaciness before returning to earth and ending proper. We’re hinting at something great here... F** Your Face, something not played too often, so a little rarity, OK. Wolfman’s was similar to Chalk Dust, a bit extended, a little exploration, but not ready to blast off quite yet. After four classics, Things People Do keeps the modern Phish catalog in check, a nice song that I think kept the flow going well. Then, Lengthwise. I’m 14 years old, this was my 12th show (my first was 1/3/15 Miami), and never did I think I’d hear a Lengthwise, and it happened on this night. The show ain’t even half over yet! Maze follows, naturally. Waiting All Night was one of the better examples of the song. The middle of Divided Sky was just hilarious. Trey stood still whenever everyone stopped playing, then looked around, then we all cheered super loud (I was four rows back in the pit Page side), and he cracked a smile and dragged the pause on a little longer. I thought that was pretty funny. Character Zero pumped everyone up for the second set. Crosseyed, while not a top-tier version, was experimental and tight, and then it happened. Soul Planet, one of my favorite new songs, blasted off into the stratosphere in a 23 minute epic. A perfect example of how far they’ve come since coming back in ‘09. Beautiful acts by all four guys, none in particular. They were all leading the jam. ASIHTOS was too short, in my opinion, but Piper got a bit of extra attention. Possum and Slave brought us to the end, and Squirming Coil got us away to our cars for Night Three.

I might even like this show better than last night. While there was no crazy, groundbreaking set 1 jams like last night's Ghost, the energy and flow throughout the first set was incredible. CDT didn't break very far, but had an interesting jam as did Wolfman's. Lengthwise was a nice treat into a ripping Maze. Waiting All Night fit well in this spot and then a killer Divided Sky followed by Zero to close us out. Definitely above average first set even for this year.

Absolute gift of an evening! I think it’s sad that MJ_Calleys’ review was downvoted so heavily just because he doesn’t like a song the band played. This show is great, but “Soul Planet” makes me cringe. It sounds like bad kids’ music. It has become yet another recent unbearably corny Phish song through which I have to fast-forward to get to the jam. This jam is great, though. What a run of shows! Hate that I missed them.

From couch tour...this was an average to slightly above average show. The outstanding song selection of the fourth quarter shouldn't make up for a land mine.
