Sam Bush

Full Name: Sam Bush

Phish’s ties to country music were strengthened when Sam Bush joined them for the better part of the second set in Antioch, TN on 6/22/00. A three-time winner of the National Junior Fiddle Championship in his younger days, Bush delighted the crowd on such Phish standards as “Harry Hood” and “Uncle Pen.”
As with many of Nashville’s renowned performers, Bush has a resume loaded with credits. As a musician who also plays mandolin and guitar, he is best known as the leader of New Grass Revival, which also starred Béla Fleck, and as a member of the award-winning Nash Ramblers. He has recorded with Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks and Steve Earle. He has toured with Fleck and with Lyle Lovett. He has even produced several albums, and now leads his own band. But his most impressive credit may be his dedication to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival; as of the 2003 festival, he had appeared at every one since its inception in 1974.
