Ricky Skaggs

Full Name: Ricky Skaggs

Ricky may have been one of a handful of special guests in Antioch, TN on 6/22/00, but his career stands out as one of the best in country and bluegrass music. In the 1970s he played mandolin with both J.D. Crowe and the New South and Boone Creek before turning to country music by the end of the decade. He remained a fixture on Billboard’s country music charts through the 1980s, earning a spot as one of the magazine’s Top 20 Artists of the Decade. He landed 24 singles in the Top 20, including twelve number-one songs. Among his awards are eight from the Country Music Association and four Grammys. He is still recording and receiving critical acclaim; a recent album, Bluegrass Rules, received ten nominations from the 1999 International Bluegrass Music Association and two Grammys.
