Artis the Spoonman

Full Name: Artis the Spoonman

    Based in Seattle, WA, Artis the Spoonman is a locally legendary and accomplished spoon player, poet, and songwriter who has toured internationally with his act and made many appearances with other musicians and on television. He claims to have appeared with Frank Zappa, Aerosmith, Pete Seeger, k.d. lang, Bob Weir, Soundgarden, Itzhak Perlman, The Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra, Ani DiFranco, Leftover Salmon, and String Cheese Incident, among others. Artis opened for Phish at several of the Northwestern tour shows in October 1991. He appeared on-stage during Set II and the first encore of the 10/12/91 Roseland Theater show and played his spoons on “Brother,” “If I Only Had a Brain,” “Harry Hood,” “Tweezer Reprise,” “Lawn Boy,” and “Rocky Top.”
