12/21/06 - Bark a scruff and go to jail?
The Washington County DA is considering felony charges due to the amount of pills Trey had on him, according to The Times Union.

12/20/06 - LivePhish releases 12/29/97 video & audio!
LivePhish.com is offering both video and audio release of Phish's December 29th, 1997, performance at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY, promising " crystal clear, mastered soundboard audio" for this "next installment in the on going LivePhish Audio and LivePhish Video series."

12/16/06 - Trey apologizes
Trey - whom Glide says is now "a real rock star" - has issued a statement of apology. Several sources (e.g. E! Online) cite an e-mail from his manager saying "I feel terrible about what happened last night" and "I am deeply sorry for any embarrassment I have caused my friends, family and fans." (The apology may have been longer; it was not sent to Phish.net, and we're only seeing these extracts from it third-hand.)

12/15/06 - Trey arrested!!
Trey Anastasio was arrested at 3:30 this morning in Whitehall, NY, for "third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and DWI - drugs" (Burlington Free Press), mugshot and all. He "was observed to be under the influence of a narcotic substance ... had a suspended driver's license in New York and allegedly was found with an assortment of prescription medications including hydrocodone, Percocet and Xanax, which were prescribed for another person" (Times Union).

Treys mugshotTrey was driving a black 2004 Audi sedan when Whitehall Police Patrolman Andrew Mija observed him crossing into an opposing lane. Trey failed several field sobriety tests, but passed a breath test for alcohol. He reportedly told Mija that he'd smoked hash and consumed some prescription pills. His license had been suspended for not responding to an August 1998 ticket for driving 84 mph in a 65mph zone in Chester. (PostStar). He was released to a friend, picked up his car from a towing company this morning (and drove off in it, despite the license suspension, according to the PostStar), and is scheduled to re-appear on January 10th. (See also, WNYT.com.)

Several accounts quote his November 2005 interview discussing how the band let their guard down in 1998 about keeping "hard drugs" away. (By that account, things not only degenerated to the point of a two-year hiatus, but became worse afterwards, resulting in the band's 2004 breakup.) Trey reportedly told Whitehall Police Chief Richard LaChapelle, "'You know what, I've got a problem and I've got to take care of it. Everything happens for a reason." (PostStar)

Whitehall is a small town (population 4,035, per U.S. Census) in rural Washington County in upstate New York, approximately 70 miles north of Albany, N.Y. and 10 miles west of the Vermont/New York border.

11/8/06 - Breakup surpasses Hiatus
The first hiatus (at least the first named as such) lasted the 815 days from October 7, 2000, to December 31, 2002. The "breakup" began after the second Coventry show, on August 15, 2004, which was 815 days ago today. In short, the breakup has now lasted longer than the hiatus.

10/11/06 - Mike & Marco duo?
Doesn't seem to be on-sale yet, but we're told that Mike will perfect with Marco Benevento at Tonic (in NYC) Wednesday 11/1/06 at midnight.

10/9/06 - One band gets a skyscraper
Every band may need skyscrapers, but U2 is actually building one.

9/22/06 - Sipe joins Trey
Drummer Raymond Weber is off Trey's fall tour (10/8-31) "due to an abrupt and serious case of appendicitis". He'll be replaced by Jeff Sipe, formerly of The Aquarium Rescue Unit, with whom Phish toured almost exclusively for years, sharing both stages and hotel rooms.

9/13/06 - Tom joshes about reunion etc.
Phish lyricist and sometimes guest Tom Marshall has posted blog message he characterized (at the end) as bullshit, but which includes ideas about and tangential to reunion issues - as well as a number of potentially aggravating, even alienating thoughts about the band members and their personal lives.

9/8/06 - ZZYZX on 18 Steps
The cover of Trey's new album was designed by Phish.net vet, Jambands writer, and Mockingbird statistician David "ZZYZX" Steinberg (a.k.a. ""The Timer"). It involves a complicated equation to connect Bar 17 (the album title) with "18 Steps" (a track title), and employs Galois Theory, Set Theory, Combinatorics, and basic trigonometry and calculus, ultimately (if simplified) expressing the equation "17 + 1 = 18".

9/6/06 - New Mimi Fishman Auction
The Mimi Fishman Foundation has announced a new auction to benefit Delta Gamma Center for Children With Visual Impairments and Col Bruce Hampton's medical expenses. The auction ends September 14th, and includes Jon Fishman cymbals signed by him, as well as many Phish laminate packages.

8/30/06 - Wading Remix on YouTube
It ain't got phunky beats, vinyl feats, or samples of... Keats (?), but it is a slight remix and does have some emotional bedonkadonk. Just the thing to get yo fly ass cryin, yo.

9/7/06 - Phish Food beats Cannonball!
In the first race of the Rolex Farr 40 World Championship sailing events, Alex Michas's Phish Food - "who [sic] has not looked like a contender" - beat out Dario Ferrari's Cannonball.

8/29/06 - Mimi Auction for the Col.
The Mimi Fishman Foundation has announced a new online charity auction to benefit Col. Bruce Hampton (ret.) and the Delta Gamma Center for Children With Visual Impairments. Col. Bruce, longtime Phish collaborator and friend of Mimi, performed at one of Mimi's earliest benefits (the 3/30/96 Mimi Fishman Birthday Party benefit for the American Glaucoma Society, with the Aquarium Rescue Unit) and at the first after her passing (10/5/01, with the Code Talkers as well as Merl Saunders).

Auctioned items include many items from son (and Phish drummer) Jon Fishman's past, including various pieces of Fishman’s drum kits used on Phish tours as well as studio recordings, some dating back to the mid to late 80’s, all of which Fishman has signed. Ex Phish Director of Security, John Langenstein, has also donated Phish memorabilia out of his collection sure to be of interest to Phish fans.

8/24/06 - Trey x2 at Vegoose
Trey will perform twice at Vegoose this fall - first w/ Robert Randolph & The Family Band Friday Oct. 27th, 2006, at the Orleans Arena, Doors TBD / Show TBD, $36.50 plus $2 facility fee; and again under the bill "Phil & Trey..." on Saturday Oct. 28th, 2006, also at the Orleans Arena, Doors 12AM / Show 1AM, $36.50 plus $2 facility fee. Tickets for two-day passes to Vegoose go on sale this Saturday, August 19 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time at www.vegoose.com!

8/18/06 - Trey & Phil at Vegoose
Phish's top and the Dead's bottom, not only on the same bill or even playing together, but actually billed in the same act. Woot!

8/17/06 - Trey's next solo release on the way
He put out One Man's Trash through DryGoods, then Shine with Columbia. Now Trey's started his own label, Rubber Jungle, for the October 3rd release of Bar 17, a 13-track effort recorded at The Barn with 40 other musicians, including Mike Gordon, Jon Fishman, the Benevento/Russo Duo, John Medeski, percussionist Cyro Baptista, I-Nine vocalist Carmen Keegan, the Dambuilders' Joan Wasser, Ray Paczkowski, Jennifer Hartswick, and Dave Grippo.

Items often mentioned in press thus far are that the title track is nearly nine minutes long, and that "Goodbye Head" is a collaboration with Trey's eldest daugher, Eliza. Trey, who reports having felt "totally unleashed" during the recording, will tour following the release.

As one reviewer put it, "Through recordings and releases like these, Phish will continue. They will shape the culture they upheld, revolutionize with the music they created and inspire with the free-spirit that is, even now, shimmering in the air above a million small clubs and bars across the world where college kids are picking up guitars and drum sticks."

8/16/06 - Memories, misty water-clifford memories...
It's ten years since Clifford Ball, which started Phish's festival phenom, and two years since Coventry, which ended it. So, raise a glass (or a glass something, ahem) and pause to reflect on all that was, what is now, and what may someday be again.

8/16/06 - Plattsburgh to host jets
The former air force base that hosted the Clifford Ball will now host jet fighters, from "Top Aces Consulting Inc., a Canadian jet-fighter training outfit that is setting up shop on the flight line."

8/2/06 - "Catch your own Phish" Sweepstaks
Enter to win a guided tour of The Barn (the band's private recording studio where Farmhouse, Round Room, and Undermind were recorded), an autographed copy of Live in Brooklyn, and a exclusive possession of an unreleated track, recorded at The Barn, that the band has never shared: "As the only person with this track, the choice is yours to share with the world - or keep it all to yourself."

7/30/06 - Bryce Jordan welcomes Phish?
In something of a tease, Bryce Jordan Center's sales and marketing director advances rumor of a reunion (without any confirmation or official anything) via a BJC forum.

7/18/06 - Phuo Private Show
Trey, Mike, and the Duo Played to a small private crowd last night (7/17/06) in Toronto at The Century Room July 17th 2006. They joined the house band (Grooveyard) for a three-song set: Boogie On Reggae Woman, The Ocean (Zepplin), and Sex Machine (James Brown). The latter two were first for the Phuo, though Phish has soundchecked at least the latter one. Video has surfaced on SendSpace.

The event was the fourth in a series of guest-list-only private parties for the band, aptly titled Privacy. (The first was at the Madbar in 1999 with Hippie and Halo, and the 3rd being for Oysterhead. All four have featured DJ Sneak.) An organizer reports privately, "We started it for the band, a place to be private, get away from the regulars, hang and meet some new and interesting people and that's just it."

7/18/06 - Rhino issues LIB E-card
Rhino Records has issued audio/video e-card to promote the release of Live In Brooklyn.

7/14/06 - The Rhythm Devils are Back!

7/13/06 - A fourth 3/4!
Page played with Mike, Trey, and Benevento/Russo Duo (the Phuo?) for the "Who Are You" encore last night, the fourth time that 3 of 4 members of Phish have played together since the breakup. They did it again for the "Midnight Hour" encore of the Phil and Friends set (same date/venue).

Page, Trey, and Mike also played together during the hiatus, marking the beginning of its end.

7/11/06 - Live from Brooklyn streaming
You can hear the just-released-today CDs streamed on AOL all this week.

7/10/06 - Shine on, you Crazy Diamond!
Original Pink Floyd member, and writer of songs Phish covered including "Honey Love" and "Bike", Syd Barret passed away Friday, July 7th, as covered by The Guardian, MSNBC, and NME.

"I know a room of musical tunes. Some rhyme, some ching, most of them are clockwork. Let's go into the other room and make them work."" R.I.P., Syd.

7/5/06 - Brooklyn DVD & CD released!
As widely reported (e.g. on Monsters & Critics, quoted here), Live in Brooklyn - a two-DVD set and three-CD set - will be released 7/11/06 on JEMP Records/Rhino, including "high-definition video quality and 5.1 audio.... Live in Brooklyn was filmed and recorded June 17, 2004 at the Keyspan Park baseball field on Coney Island, the first show after Phish’s emotional May 2004 announcement that their upcoming tour would be their last. The band played two consecutive nights at Keyspan Park. The concert was shot by eight cameras in HD and is presented in maximum quality on two dual-layer DVDs with 5.1 Surround Sound. The two-DVD set features the entire 6/17/04 concert (two sets of music) and bonus material including excerpts from sound check, backstage footage, and three full songs from the 6/18 performance. The three-CD soundtrack - which will be sold separately - is the entire first night on three CDs remixed and mastered from the band’s digital multi-track tapes. ‘Live in Brooklyn’ marks the first DVD release and second CD release by JEMP Records, a new label devoted to releasing what the band members consider the greatest and most important shows of their career.... The DVD is also the first full, uncut concert Phish has released on DVD since Live in Vegas (2000)." The "three-CD set [and the] two-DVD set [are] now available for pre-order at Amazon."

7/5/06 - Who's not on first?
Trey talked to (northeast Pennsylvania) Times-Leader about both not talking about a reunion and not talking about not a reunion, and concludes: "Some people might not like change. ... I like change, and I think without change, you don’t grow. When I think about Peter Gabriel or Eric Clapton or Bob Dylan or Miles Davis, the people I admired, they constantly changed.

7/3/06 - The next Trey Band?
In an article about the 7/2/06 saratoga springs show (with Phil Lesh and Friends, and the Benevento/Russo duo w/ Mike and Trey), freelance writer Michael Lisi described the "Get Back" performance as "Anastasio's version" and Benevento, Russo, and Mike as "his band", even after saying Trey "preferred to stay out of the spotlight".
Puts Trey's frustrations in perspective to see a journalist make everything "his", even for a project he joined last (the Duo and Mike have done several shows previously without Trey). Or maybe it puts the soundmix in perspective: The webcast from Bonnaroo was very Trey-centric; was the mix @ Saratoga, too?

7/2/06 - A Third Time for 3/4?
Page, Fishman, and Mike are all playing at moe.down 7, September 1-3 - Mike Gordon with his Ramble Dove; Page McConnell with Jon Fishman, Adam Zimmon, Jared Slomoff and Rob O'Dea. No word yet if all three will be on stage at the same time, but this will be the third time that three of Phish's four members play a gig together.
Hmmm... if only 3/4 + 3/4 + 3/4 = 1. :(

6/23/6 - Relentless Communicator tired of Goofiness
In a phone interview for an article printed today, Trey told The Aspen Times, "I was a little sick of the goofiness, to be perfectly honest. I wanted to say things that were closer to my heart." But, the Times reports, "He says the members talk a lot and are processing the issues raised by the breakup." No surprise for the guy whose wife calls him "The Relentless Communicator."

6/20/06 - Early soundboard unearthed
etree logoSoundboards of the 2/21/1991 Trax show have now been torrented at etree.

6/20/06 - No more Plattsburgh concerts
The Press-Republican reports "Monday's news of a major aviation company moving to Plattsburgh International Airport as perhaps the biggest economic-development boost the area has ever seen" and mentions the Clifford Ball near the end, about which it says, "The concert was deemed a success, but base redevelopers decided it was time to move forward and nixed the idea of more concerts on the flightline."

6/18/06 - Trey & Mike at Bonnaroo
Trey performed Friday w/ Oysterhead's return (530-730 CDT), and Trey and Mike performed with the Benevento/Russo Duo for Saturday's SuperJam (12:30am until about 3am Sunday morning, including "Play Pause Stop," "Dragonfly" and "Goodbye Head," then with Phil for for "Casey Jones" and "Goin' Down the Road Feelin' Bad", and then "Mr. Completely" as the quartet again.

(Note that AT&T's schedule for the streamed webcast implied that the Trey/Mike/Duo gig was Sunday at 11:15 CDT. We're told that was a re-airing of the previous night's event, and apologie for the confusion of the earlier report.)

6/15/06 - Relix interviews Trey & Mike
trey and mikeMike Greenhaus recently conducted an interview with Trey and Mike which went over extremely well and touches a bit on Phish.

6/6/06 - Oysterhead may tour this fall
Billboard reports, "Rock trio Oysterhead is hoping to mount its first tour since 2001 later this year, drummer Stewart Copeland said during a teleconference with journalists today." The group has already been practicing (see 6/1/06 news item, below) and will be performing later this month at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, TN.

6/6/06 - New Mimi Fishman Foundation Auction
The Mimi Fishman Foundation has announced a new auction to raise funds for Conscious Alliance and Staying Connected. Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Jack Johnson, Margerie Minkin/Mike Gordon, Stanley Mouse, Umphrey’s McGee, Jackson Browne, and Les Claypool are among those who have signed items for the auction. The String Cheese Incident, Keller Williams, Yonder Mountain String Band, and the Gathering of the Vibes festival have donated concert packages, several of which include backstage credentials and/or VIP passes. To date, the Foundation has been responsible for the distribution of nearly $200,000 to the charities it supports.

6/4/06 - Phish/Mbird sighting on TV
On the 6/3/06 airing of Ultimate Poker Challenge (episode 15 from season two; originally aired c.12/31/05), third-place finisher Jesse Martin wore a Phish Local Crew shirt and an orange Mockingbird Foundation sweatband on his forearm. :)

6/2/06 - 75% of Phish again!
Page, Mike and Fishman were on stage together along with Ramble Dove at the Honky Tonk the Vote benefit for Bernie Sanders last night at Higher Grounds ... thats 75% of Phish playing music together, the second time since the breakup.

6/2/06 - Trey & Mike last night
As hinted on Mike's hotline message from earlier in the week (given as an example of a leak that "would be inappropriate" content for the hotline, heh), Trey showed up at the Ramble Dove show last night @ Irving Plaza, NYC.

Trey came on for Los Lobos' "I Got Loaded" at 11:20, about 35 minutes into the hour-long set one (of 2; second lasted about 1:15) and stayed until most of the second set (through "Possum").

6/1/06 - Oysterhead practicing in Bay Area
KFOG reported today that Stu Copeland was in the Bay Area supposedly this weekend practicing with Les and Trey.

5/29/06 - Phish on TV?
The MSG Network will start airing concerts from MSG. No word yet if Phish will be included, but MSG already announced that they have the rights to the Jammys from the past four years, so chances of at least seeing Trey with Scofield, for example, seem high.

5/18/06 - Mike & Trey @ Allgood
Trey and Mike will perform at the 10th annual Allgood Music Festival in Masontown, WV - which, more generally, happens to have a smokin' lineup this year!!

4/27/06 - Trey & Mike to tour; Phish to return
In an interview on an Atlanta radio station today, Trey (likely in Atlanta for studio work with a producer he's teamed up with before) confirmed rumos that he, Mike, and the Benevento/Russo duo will tour together this summer. Though tickets and billing will likely portray some hierarchy among the bill's acts, rumors (based on previous things Mike and Trey have said) describe the tour as some sort of interactive meld, with each of the 3 doing their own stuff, as well as some interaction among them.

Trey also mentioned that he "hopes to get Phish back together in a few years", dispelling rumors of an October 2006 reunion but confirming common suspicions that this "breakup" is really a second hiatus.

4/16/06 - Play Mike in Chess with OhKeePa!
The folks at the OhKeePa message board have scheduled a game of chess with Mike Gordon at www.pogo.com, starting at 9pm EST on Monday April 17th. There will be a discussion and voting of moves in the OKP chat room inbetween moves, so that everyone can participate.

4/21/06 - Devil's Day?
Today marks 666 days since Phish's last show (8/15/04), a sinfully long respite.

3/22/06 - Trey radio special coming in April
TREY ANASTASIO LIVE: LET IT SHINE, a new one-hour radio special featuring Trey live on stage and in the studio, is set to air on terrestrial radio stations nationwide in April 2006. The setlist includes his best-known solo and Phish songs live, with his new band at NYC's Madison Square Garden this past New Years Eve, and solo from an exclusive acoustic session recorded in New York a few weeks ago. Trey also discusses everything from his new album and songs to his time and relationship with Phish to his fledgling hockey career. Radio hosts and programmers interested in obtaining this program for broadcast should contact cahnmedia@comcast.net.

3/12/06 - New Mimi Fishman Foundation Auction
The Mimi Fishman Foundation has announced a new on-line charity auction, with a sole item on the block: a VIP package to the Wakarusa Music Festival (Jne 8-11, Lawrence, KS), including food, drink, VIP camping, special viewing areas, and more. The auction will begin March 10, end March 26, and serve as the initial launch for a new Maximum Bidding feature being introduced by the Foundation.

3/10/06 - Mike & Marjorie
Mike Gordon and mother Marjorie Minkin will hold an art opening tonight in Burlington of an exhibit titled Another Side of In. The exhibit, of their acrylic electronic sculptures, will run March 10 - April 30, 2006 at The Firehouse Gallery, 135 Church St, Burlington.

Update: The event included a dancer (shown at right) from NYC performing wordless interaction with the sculptures, which produce musical sounds from Mike's album-based tape loops, which vary according to a person's proximity to and movement in front of each sculpture.

3/10/06 - Fishman to perform with Everyone Orchestra
The 3rd Annual Pangaea Project Benefit Concerts will be April 14 & 15 at the Crystal Ballroom, Portland, OR. 3/8/06 - Esther Video Art Auction Open
Scott Nybakken, who drew the art for the Esther video once shown during a Phish setbreak, has put the first ten drawings from the video up for sale on eBay under the seller name lifeofreilley. Presuming there's interest among buyers, he'll put up a new group of ten drawings each week until he's gone through all 118.

3/6/06 - Trey @ XM tomorrow
Trey will be taping a solo session at XM Satellite Radio in Washington, D.C., on 3/7/06 at 2pm, in front of an intimate studio audience of approximately 40 people. Admission was by random selection from emails sent by noon on March 2nd.

3/2/06 - TAB (not Trey) to play Atlanta in April
Trey and some incarnation of his backing bands* will perform two nights at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA, 4-26&27-06. Tickets go on sale to the public at 10AM via Ticketmaster today (3/2/06), and through a real-time presale from 3/2 @ 5pm to 3/10 @ noon (all times EST) at treytickets.rlc.net.

* Prior to 70 Volt Parade, management insisted on billing his acts as simply Trey Anastasio and not Trey Anastasio Band, despite fans' talk about TAB. Current management (who helped build the Dave Matthews Band) used Trey Anastasio Band - either a faux pax, or a relenting to vernacular or strategy, or an attempt to sneak by a name change - on the official site for about 30 hours (ending sometime midday on 3/3) during which discussion ensued on PhantasyTour and other places. The act is now, and again, billed as simply Trey Anastasio - and, so, we don't know who will perform with him or if they have a name.

3/1/06 - Trey & Tom writing together again
On MySpace, Tom writes, "Meanwhile, last weekend Trey and I went up to a friend's cabin in the Adirondacks and wrote 10 new songs... Anyway, I can't wait to hear the songs live...played presumably by 70VP and possibly a combination of Mike and the Duo I suppose."

2/23/06 - Phish sighting on The Colbert Report
New York Times columnist David Brooks ("the conservative who liberals can like"), when challenged by Colbert that Ann Coulter's making more money by being less reasonable, said, "I do Phish concerts." We're not sure why, but he and Colbert both repeated it.

2/23/06 - Pratt to Play!
J. Willis Pratt is alive and well - and playing with Touchpants on May 11 at the Metronome in Burlington, VT. Fishman will be on drums.

2/21/06 - New Amfibian album on the way
Amfibian, led by Phish lyricist Tom Marshall, are about to release their latest album and will will tour the East coast in upcoming months. A few tracks from the latest band line-up, including the soon to be released track "Sheep", are available sample at www.myspace.com/amfibian.

2/16/06 - Page w/ Frogg Cafe
Page sat in with Frogg Cafe @ Nectar's, in Burlington, VT, for their "2001" encore. The band's website includes an MP3 of the track, as well as of the other either from Frogg Cafe's set. (Don't miss Sissy Strut or The Landlady.)

2/16/06 - Rumors update
Although Phish is rumored to be playing MSG 10/28/06 and 10/29/06, the Knickerbockers and Rangers, respectively, are scheduled to play there those nights.

2/13/06 - Page @ Nectar's last Saturday
Page McConnell (whom you may remember as the keyboardist for Phish) performed with NYC-based Frogg Café during part of their opening set at Nectar’s on Saturday 2/11/06. He then performed a full show with DJ Le Spam and the Spam Allstars.

2/12/06 - Trey performs with Phil and Friends
By all accounts, the show tonight at the Beacon Theater in NYC (Phil Lesh, Jeff Sipe, Rob Barraco, Larry Campbell, Joan Osbourne, and Trey) rocked the house!

  • Set I: Help > Slip > Franklin's, Up on Cripple Creek, They Love Each Other, Cold Rain & Snow > Loose Lucy, Buckets of Rain, All Along The Watchtower
  • Set II: St. Stephen, What Sin (?)> Jam > Cryptical > Dark Star v1 > Jam> The Other One > Dark Star V2 > Eyes of the World > GDTRFB > Gimme Shelter
  • Enc: Wolfman's Brother, Midnight Hour.
The Cryptical-->Other One portion reportedly included a Cosmic Charlie jam as well as a Jack Straw jam. Midnight Hour included Danny Clinch on harmonica.

2/11/06 - Oysterhead @ Bonnaroo
Almost five years after thir last show, rock trio Oysterhead will perform at this summer's Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival (Manchester, Tennessee). The band includes Trey on guitar, Les Claypool on bass, and Stuart Copeland on drums. Other acts on the bill include Radiohead, Tom Petty, Phil Lesh & Friends, Bright Eyes, Ben Folds, Dr. John, My Morning Jacket, Cat Power, The Disco Biscuits and DJ Sasha.

2/11/06 - SIRIUS announces Phish Bowl
On Super Bowl Sunday, Sirius channel 17 (Jam_On, the jamband channel) will host a competition of its own: The Phish Bowl. Phish experts, and Sirius DJs, Jonathan Schwartz and Adam Foley will debate their favorite Phish shows while Pharmer´s Almanac author Andy Bernstein serves as referee. To support their arguments, Schwartz and Foley will each play four songs from their chosen Phish concerts, December 31, 1995 and August 17, 1997, respectively. The games begin at 7 PM EST, with heady debate likely to stretch late into the evening.

2/9/06 - Trey doesn't win Grammy
Buy, hey, at least he was nominated: for "Possibilities", with Herbie Hancock, in "Category 9 - Best Pop Instrumental Performance (For solo, duo, group or collaborative performances, without vocals. Newsweek cites loving "the rock band Phish&uqot; as evidence of good behavior, to open an article about "the trouble with boys".

2/1/06 - Mike with Ramble Dove @ Bonnaroo
Jambands.com has reported, "Mike Gordon will perform with a new collective, Ramble Dove, at the fifth annual Bonnaroo festival this summer. According to Gordons management, the new project will feature a number of Vermont musicians, paying homage to classic Nashville honky-tonk. Gordon, a longtime admirer of bluegrass and honky-tonk, is largely responsible for bringing songs like Ginseng Sullivan and Uncle Penn into Phishs repertoire."

1/14/06 - Brooklyn: Yes, but not then
An increasing number of sites are taking (pre?)orders for the forthcoming DVD release of Phish's 6/17/04 Brooklyn show, which (as one seller notes) "marked the start of what would be the final Phish tour and was the first date after the emotional news of their breakup was announced. The show was simultaneously broadcast to movie theaters nationwide-arguably the most successful live theatrical broadcast to date, with legions of loyal Phish fans reportedly dancing in the aisles across the country. Included on this DVD are the two complete sets the band performed that day along with sound check footage and three full peformances from the second Brooklyn date."

However, we're told that the release date is not 3/7/06, as commonly reported; an official release date is not known.
