The Helping Phriendly Book - Archived Phish Setlists:
Month: Day: Year:

1983 Setlists:

October: 30
November: 03

10-30-83 Harris-Millis Cafeteria - University of Vermont, Burlington, VT

Fans thought for many, many years that Phish first played on this date. However, the "Thriller" show actually took place on 12-02-83. If Phish did play on this date (and there is no known evidence to indicate that they did), it was a different show.

11-03-83 Slade Hall - Universtiy of Vermont, Burlington, VT

The Midnight Hour, Wild Child, Bertha, Can't You Hear Me Knockin'*, Camel Walk, Eyes of the World, Whipping Post

This date is incorrect; it is actually a setlist from 11-03-84. *With "St. Stephen" (Grateful Dead) jam.

12-02-83 Harris-Millis Cafeteria - University of Vermont, Burlington, VT

1: Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress, Proud Mary, In the Midnight Hour, Squeeze Box, Roadhouse Blues, Happy Birthday

2: Scarlet Begonias > Fire

The First Gig. Played under the name "Blackwood Convention." The show supposedly ended when the DJ cranked up the stereo (purportedly with Michael Jackson's "Thriller") to drown them out. This setlist and its verified date come from the Mockingbird Foundation's setlist document. See full information there.

[About the HPB]

HPB DETAILS:
The Helping Phriendly Book is the common name for the Phish.Net setlist archive, the collected lists of songs played at Phish concerts from 1983 through today. The HPB is brought to you by the work and contributions of countless fans at absolutely no charge. Please note that while the HPB continues to be the first source of recent setlists, as well as an important online reference, the Mockingbird Foundation has published the most complete and accurate setlist database available anywhere (with research assistance from the band's official archives) in their book The Phish Companion. For definitive setlist data, please refer to that document. Thanks, and happy listening!

Copyright, Credits, and History: Read about who has worked on the HPB over the years, and see your name if you've contributed!
ZZYZX's Phish Stats: since the HPB search capabilities are rather limited, we encourage you to use ZZYZX's Phish Stats. Please try the variety of powerful tools he offers before emailing me in search of a setlist. Thanks.
