How can I get disabled/handicap seating?
How can I get disabled/handicap seating? Tickets themselves do not include or allow a handicapped designation. The impression is that if you contact the venue in advance, you can sometimes get assistance which may include a special entrance, use of an elevator, and designated seating (though that's sometimes right in an aisle and at a loge/balcony portal). Most venues use the term "handicapped/special needs accessible" seating. Each venue is different, some making little or no accomodation for handicapped seating and others providing special areas for the handicapped and companions. (Hampton Coliseum is one of the best.) Some venues sell tickets to the handicapped directly, so it may behoove you to call them rather than go the mailorder or ticketmaster route. The able-bodied should try *not* to use bathroom facilities and portapotties marked for the handicapped -- they have a tough enough time without waiting behind the rude, inconsiderate oblivious assholes only to find filthy facilities or overflowing portapotties.
