What
is NICU?
The song was first played on on 3/6/92 II, Portsmouth, NH, and was initially dubbed "In an Intensive Care Unit." However, within months, it had gotten more of a reggae beat and was being called NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit):
"By that summer, it gained a decidedly driving rhythm and a middle section that modulates key all over the place.") There was also some discussion that it be called "And I see you." (One of the lines is "when I see you".) Most interestingly, a <kspencer@bates.edu> noted that Ni is the symbol for Nickel and Cu is the symbol for copper and that these two symbols are side-by-side and in that order on the periodic chart (elements 28 and 29); not explanation for that, except that it (nickel and copper) might refer to small change (nickels and pennies). Special thanks also to Daniela Bono.
"Today I listened to some Phish. It was the most preposterous and unmusical gibberish I have ever encountered. Only a low-grade moron could like this unmitigated rubbish. I'd rather listen to my dentist's drill..."
