This remnant will be replaced soon. The FAQ is back, with a new design!
What
is a "net shirt", and how do I get one?
GETTING ONE:
The PhishNet Shirts were designed in 1994 and are fabulous! The
graphic below is a poor rendering, and only shows one side, but
even that (with multicolors and a snazzy design) is more than worth
the measly $10. The shirt is of the same high quality as in the
past, and is officially sanctioned by the band Phish. Ordering information
was once and likely will again be at http://www.phish.net/netshirt/;
meanwhile, contact Marcie Vogel via email at marcie@attbi.com.
Note: Supplies are running low, with only perhaps a dozen
of these special shirts left, so get in contact with Marcie asap!
Many thanks to the band for their consent and initial financial
support, Matt Laurence (bassist for yeP! and designer of the previous
designs) for the great designs, Shelly and Cynthia at DryGoods/Dionysian/MailOrder
for taking the time and interest to get this project going, Rosemary
Mackintosh for taking the initiative and time to get it into motion,
and Marcie Vogel for keeping it in motion. And thanks to Amie
Beal for the shirt scans!
HISTORY:
The Ophishial PhishNet T-shirt (aka tshirt, t-shirt) has been around
since Christmas, 1991. It's a great shirt and proclaims to all a
band worth hearing, seeing, and otherwise experiencing. There have
been three versions, initiated in 1992, 1993, & 1994. The first
two were administered by Matt Laurence, the third by Rosemary Mackintosh.
These shirts have been officially christened & approved by the band,
& have been receiving rave reviews from Phishheads everywhere. They
are an indespensible tool for locating netters at shows,
both those that you're trying to meet and people you would otherwise
never speak with. (In re the latter, you're *bound* to meet some
great people, have more fun, establish great tape trading relationships,
et al from wearing a net shirt! We all do!) They're great! They're
fun! And they're more helpful than you'll know until you get yours.

1993
shirt description from Matt: "The front design is a large, multi-colored
psychedelic swirling net, with a cool fish wearing Ray-Bans floating
in the center. The words Phish and NET are at the top and bottom,
respectively, in large ripply blue letters. On the back is the [old]
net address with another graphic..."
1992 shirt description: the same smilin' fish, much bigger,
with colorful children's wood-block type around him declaring the
PhishNet. Note: there is no design on the back of the 1992 shirt;
at shows, during sets, and at my seats, some wear this version backwards,
so the design might actually get seen; that or stand up and face
backwards during setbreaks.
THE NEXT ONE:
Marcie sent an update (11/19/97) that, "Due to unforeseen
technicalities the Phish.net T-shirt contest has been delayed for
several months now. We apologize for this and also for not giving
an explanation sooner. We honestly thought all this would've been
taken care of by now. However - there are still MANY '94 T-shirts
available! If you haven't seen one yet, go check it out on www.phish.net.
We would really like to sell these shirts so that we can move forward
with the NEW T-shirts. If you are interested in buying one, please
email me (marciedee@attbi.com) and I'll send details on how to purchase
one. We sincerely hope that the Contest can be reactivated soon
(we're thinking about calling for submissions of designs again,
of course keeping the ones we've already received) and will do our
best to get this done as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience
and understanding."
"`Nobody asks why people
travel across the country to see a World Series or a Billy Graham
crusade. Anything that impassions people that much ought to be
encouraged.""
