What was the "net gift" to Eliza? ... and who's Eliza?

On December 15, 199?, at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, Rosemary McIntosh (past FAQ maintainer) delivered the net.gift to Sue and Eliza Anastasio (that is, Trey's wife and eldest daughter). According to Rosemary, "Eliza is a neat kid -- full of character at only 4 months. Sue was thrilled with the gift... she kept saying she was speechless."

"Shelly arranged for us to meet with Sue and Eliza (thanks Shelly!) in the afternoon. We brought the box, which was painted by me and some Phish-loving fourth graders at my school. Inside of the box were: a sloth, a possum (with a baby possum), a stuffed lizard, a crab, 2 plastic lizards, the Horse, a Llama, McGrupp the dog, and a Mockingbird. Held in the Mockingbird's talons was a booklet containing greetings from people who contributed toward the gift. All of the animals but the 2 plastic lizards were puppets! Each animal had a ribbon around its neck, and a tag with the animal's name on one side and "I Belong to Eliza" on the other side.

Sue absolutely loved it. She was so excited to show it to Trey! And during the show we saw Trey's dad, and he mentioned how much he liked it too."

The Famous Mockingbird

Or, as "Catphish" called it, the Mock Mockingbird. (It looks more like a crow.) In its talongs, it holds the "Eliza Friendly Book" -- all of the greetings from the Phish.Netters who were involved in this gift.
